My brother and I became sawmill operators in the early 50’s. Prior to this we ran a planning mill operation in Swisshome, Oregon. Our business grew to include a moulding plant and planning mill operation. I have partially retired to play golf with my friends and wife Jean. I enjoy working on business projects with my son Steve and nephew Joe. Also in my spare time I have been flying in different WWII planes around the Sacramento area.

President, Sales/Purchasing
I have been involved in the lumber industry since I was a youngster. My father and uncle operated a sawmill, planning mill, and a moulding plant in Northern California. After college I was involved in sales for our mill production. Currently I oversee the operation of our specialty products manufacturing plant. I find this work very interesting and challenging at the same time. The industry is constantly changing with new products being developed continuously.
In my spare time I enjoy long distance cycling and dog sports. I currently am training with my Bearded Collie in dog agility. Competition should be in our near future as we have over a year in training so far. steve@lausmannlumber.com

My earliest memories of the the Lumber Industry spring from grade school summer vacations stacking trim ends at my Dad’s Planning mill in Loomis, Ca. Every summer was spent at the mill or working in the woods until I graduated from college. I learned all aspects of the business from the ground up alongside my father, uncle, grandmother, and many dedicated employees. They instilled in me a strong work ethic and respect for all positions at Lausmann Lumber.
Business consumes a lot of time, but my wife Nikki and I still manage to enjoy outside activities such as skiing, golf and travel.
Lausmann Lumber is a close knit company with a foundation of talented and experienced employees. We know lumber, we have the history and I believe we are uniquely positioned to best serve your needs.
Customer/Product Development My lumber career began in 1984 after I finished college, and was looking to transition from a part time construction worker of 10 years, to full time employment. I spent the next 15 years in retail lumber sales, which involved everything from operating a forklift and unloading rail cars, to retail counter sales, as well as sales and store management. In 1998, I crossed over into wholesale lumber sales with Lausmann Lumber. Currently, my responsibilities include (in addition to daily sales) managing our sales staff, handling our marketing and promotions, setting up program sales with multi-yard companies, and customer and product development.
In my spare time I can be found participating in a number of sporting activities with my son, golfing, or traveling thru the great state of California. Exercise and fitness are a big part of my life, as well as being a connoisseur and collector of wines.
I am dedicated to ensuring that all sales employees, as well as myself, build a strong foundation of trust and reliability, thus ensuring that Lausmann Lumber continues growing our relationships after the initial order. Anyone can sell something once….but can you say that you have sold a customer for their entire career?
I have been in the hardware/lumber business for about thirty years. Twenty-five of those were in the retail end in various positions from floor manager, buyer, and outside contractor sales. My lumber experience comes from working with custom home builders and helping them budget their time with deliveries and special orders.
I joined Lausmann Lumber in August of 2002. I really enjoy working with the customers we have. My experience on the contractor side of the industry helps me understand the needs of our retail customers.
As Lausmann Lumber’s newest trader, I am always looking for new markets. With over 16 years in the lumber industry, my experience has been in wholesale trading and custom manufacturing. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity this industry has allowed for me to build strong, close friendships and business partners.
Outside the office my time is divided between family, friends, and golf.
